Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive and president of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, arrived here by air today to confer with Berlin Mayor Dr. Otto Suhr on the conclusion of a global settlement with the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization on claims for heirless and communal Jewish property.

The JRSO holds title to thousands of parcels of real estate and other property owned by Jews who were murdered by the Nazis without leaving next of kin. For a number of reasons, the disposal of these assets is proving slow and difficult. The proposed global settlement, which has been the subject of negotiation for several years, provides for the Berlin municipal administration to pay the JRSO a moderate sum in payment for all claims. Berlin would collect from present holders of “Aryanized” property.

Dr. Coldmann arrived here from Bonn where he conferred yesterday with Secretary of State W. Hallstein and Peter Blankenhorn, chief of the Foreign Office’s political department. Dr. Goldmann told a Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent that he was satisfied with the results of these talks. He hopes to return to Bonn in May for discussions on the improvement of the Federal Indemnification Law for individual victims of the Nazis. At that time Dr. Goldmann may see Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.
