Editor of Jewish Newspaper in Turkey Dies in Istanbul; Was 66

Abraham Benaroya, editor and publisher of the French-language newspaper “L’Etoile du Levant.” and at one time a staff member of various other French language dailies in Istanbul, died here at the age of 66. Mr. Benaroya was well known in Turkey for his invention in 1919 of a system of shorthand in Turkish which is now in use by all Turkish stenographers. He taught the system in public colleges and to stenographers employed by the Turkish Parliament.
