An appeal to the Soviet Union to allow unrestricted study of the Hebrew language and culture was voiced here today by delegates attending the second World Congress for Hebrew Culture. The delegates also expressed their regrets that there were no representatives of Russian Jewry at the parley.

Defense Minister David Ben Gurion, major speaker at the day’s session, stressed the role of the Bible in Jewish history and urged the implanting of a love of the Bible and of Israel as an assurance that “the future of the nation is safe.” Education Minister Ben Zion Dinur also spoke. The delegates continued their explorations into a variety of proposals for spreading Hebrew culture in Jewish communities throughout the world.
