San Martin House, construction of which at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel represents a major contribution by Argentine Jewry to science in Israel, will be completed and opened next Spring, Meyer Weisgal, executive vice-chairman of the Weizmann Institute, told a press conference here today. At the interview, following his arrival here yesterday, Mr. Weisgal reported that 60 percent of the staff of the Institute were native Israelis.
Last night, Mr. Weisgal was honored at a banquet tendered by the major Jewish organizations in Argentina. Among the speakers were Pablo Manguel, Argentina’s first Ambassador to Israel, and Dr. Ezequiel Jabotinsky, who was recently elevated to the rank of ambassador in Argentina’s Foreign Service on instructions from President Peron.
