The Government of Israel informed the United Nations Security Council today that since August 26 Egypt has provoked 21 different incidents along the 25-mile Gaza strip demarcation line, including seven different violations of Israel air space. The letter, submitted by Mordecai R. Kidron, Deputy Chief of the Israel delegation at the UN, asked no action from the Council, but reserved the right of the Israel Government to future action in the international body.

“From indications which have come to the notice of the Government of Israel, it would seem that this new outbreak of violence is not an isolated phenomenon, but has been adopted as a deliberate policy which the Government of Egypt proposes to pursue undeviatingly,” the Israel letter charged. “In these circumstances,” it warned, “the Government of Israel will take all measures of self-defense for the protection of the lives and property of its citizens.”
