The British Government intervened in the Egypt-Israel situation today for the second time in three days to warn both governments of the “dangerous consequences” of a policy of reprisals, the Foreign Office said tonight. It disclosed that the British envoys in Tel Aviv and Cairo had conveyed this warning to both governments.

Foreign Office sources, stressing Britain’s support of UN cease-fire moves, confirmed that Britain was in close consultation with France and the United States over the Gaza situation with an eye to the terms of the 1950 Tripartite agreement guaranteeing Arab-Israeli borders.
