Members of a congregation in the nearby suburban community of Sands Point, Long Island, will know next week whethery may use the main building of a 24-acre estate as a house of worship. A decision on their petition was promised yesterday by Chester E. Bates, chairman of the Sands Point Village Board of Zoning Appeal, after leaders of the Reform congregation withdrew their application for a variant which would have allowed them use of recreational facilities on the property, in addition to the main building.
