Eisenhower Names Melvin Krulewitch a General in Marine Corps Reserve

President Eisenhower has approved the promotion of Melvin L. Krulewitch, public utilities attorney and chairman of the Jewish Welfare Boards New York City Council, to the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, Gen Krulewitch, 59, is now the only resident of New York City to hold a general’s rank in the Marine Corps.

Long active in Jewish philanthropic activities in the New York area, Gen, Krulewitch # veteran of combat service in both World Wars and the Korean conflict. His promotion must be confirmed by the Senate, but action there is considered to be only a formality.
