Prayers for Israel were recited in Orthodox, Conservative and Reform synagogues throughout the country tonight. This evening ushered in the eighth anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution which set up the Jewish State.

Proclamations calling for observance of a Prayer Day today were issued by the Zionist Organization of America, in conjunction with the Rabbinical Council of America, representing Orthodox congregations, and the Rabbinical Assembly, which, consists of Conservative rabbis. The Central Conference of American Rabbis, a Reform institution, called on its members to offer special prayers for Israel at their regular services.
