The National Jewish Hospital at Denver began construction today of a new $750,000 rehabilitation center for victims of tuberculosis and other chest diseases. The three-story structure is scheduled to be completed by September, 1956, along with remodeling of the hospital’s present rehabilitation facilities.
The center will train patients in vocational skills that will enable them to work a full eight-hour day upon their discharge from the hospital. The additional facilities will permit a maximum of 80 adult patients to be trained at one time, an increase of 35 percent in the adult population of the center. Among other facilities, the center will have a 250-seat all-purpose auditorium.
