A new 500-ton coastal freighter, the “Athlit,” was handed over to representatives of the Israel Purchasing Mission in Germany upon the satisfactory conclusion of her trial run.

On behalf of the Purchasing Mission, she was accepted from the Kremer shipyards in Elmshorn by Yeshayahu Anug, head of the Consular Section. A recently completed sister ship, the “Ashkalon,” has already arrived in Haifa. Both vessels will be operated by Zim-Shoham Lines.
