TEL AVIV (Dec. 19)
Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, returning today from a trip to the United States, Canada, France and Belgium, explained that he had conferred with Secretary of State John Foster Dulles over Israel’s arms request. He said that he had been hopeful that a decision by Washington would be forthcoming before he left the United States, but it had not been.
Mr. Sharett, who conferred with Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent and Minister for External Affairs Lester B. Pearson during his Canadian trip, said he was encouraged by the effort of American and Canadian Jews in Israel’s behalf. He revealed that in November the Israel Bond Organization had sold $7,300,000 worth of Israel bonds.
