Austria and Israel to Establish Diplomatic Relations; Open Embassies

The Austrian Government announced today that it would establish diplomatic relations with the State of Israel. An Israel Embassy will be established in Vienna while an Austrian Embassy will be opened in Tel Aviv.

Mayor Franz of Vienna today awarded the honorary medal of the city to Theodore Feder, formerly director of the Joint Distribution Committee in Austria. The mayor praised Mr. Feder and the JDC for “helping heal the wounds inflicted by National Socialism.”
