Large Number of Jews Reported Arrested in Rumania, Czechoslovakia

Reports of the arrest of a large number of Jewish engineers, technicians and officials in Pilsen, Czecholovakia, and of some other Jews in Prague were published today by the newspaper “libre Belgique.” It also published reports of new arrests of Jews in Rumania.

The dispatches said that spectacular trials of Jews were being prepared in a number of East European Communist countries in line with an anticipated Soviet anti-Semitic campaign. The newspaper said that such a campaign was discussed in Moscow at a secret congress of Communist Party leaders from various countries in the Soviet bloc.
