The question of tension in the Middle East was raised in the Belgian Senate today, with all speakers expressing sympathy for Israel’s cause and warning of the dangers of an arms race.

Sen. Henri Robin, Minister of State and head of the Socialist group in Parliament, spoke critically of the Soviet and Western arming of the Arab states, despite his well known pro-Soviet attitude Sen. Paul Strye, ex-president of the Senate and a Christian Socialist, said that the Arab refugee question should be settled with international assistance. He called for a new look at the question of the internationalization of Jerusalem.
