A proposal that Jews and others who do not choose to go to the polls on any specific election day because it conflicts with a religious holiday be given the opportunity of casting their ballots at an earlier date, has been submitted to the Secretary of State by the Canadian Jewish Congress and B’nai B’rith. The proposal followed a conflict between the celebration of Yom Kippur last year and a by-election in Quebec.
