Concern was expressed today by Jewish circles in Antwerp following the receipt of a warning from Saudi Arabia extending its anti-Jewish boycott to the diamond trade. The warning posted on the premises of the “Diamond Office” in Antwerp, was transmitted by the Belgian Legation at Jeddah, and set up rules for diamond trade with the Arabian kingdom. It stated that firms making offers to Saudi Arabia should not be of Jewish origin.

Diamond dealers were surprised that a notice of such a nature should have been circulated by the Belgian Legation and that it was transmitted by the Belgian Office, of Overseas Trade to the Diamond Office. There was also general regret that the latter had seen fit to post such a notice.
