The French Cabinet decided today to embargo all shipments of light arms to the Middle East. The action came after a report by Foreign Minister Christian Pineau.

It was uncertain here today whether this embargo would pertain to Israel. The chief reason for the ban was that light arms shipped to various Arab states had turned up in the hands of nationalists fighting the French in Algeria and elsewhere in North Africa.
