A four-day convention of Brith Abraham, national Jewish fraternal organization, opened here last night to consider problems facing American Jewry in relation to the American scene. Israel and elsewhere. More than 1,000 delegates representing 310 lodges of Brith Abraham throughout the United States are attending the convention.
Irving Katcher, grand master of the organization, outlined today a ten point program designed to bring greater unity to American Jewry, advance civil rights among Americans, assist youth and bring about a change in American immigration laws. Mr. Katcher also criticized the U.S. Government’s failure to supply Israel with arms to match those obtained by the Arab states. Gen. Carlos P. Romulo, Philippine Ambassador to the U.S., was presented with the first Brith Abraham “World Peace Award.”
