The Soviet leading newspaper “Pravda” was severely criticized yesterday by the American Communist newspaper “Daily Worker” for deleting references to the “liquidation” of many Jewish writers in the USSR when “Pravda” reprinted an article by Eugene Dennis, American Communist leader, from the “Daily Worker.” Mr. Dennis condemned the Stalin era for “snuffing out lives of more than a score of Jewish cultural figures.”
“If the charge was untrue, all Pravda had to do was to deny it,” the Daily Worker wrote. “Moreover, an explanation is long overdue from the Soviet leaders about the physical annihilation of the top Soviet Jewish writers and poets in the late forties.”
