Yugoslav diplomats gave their assurances today that Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s current visit to Belgrade will not be directed against Israel in any way.

These statements were made in connection with Col. Nasser’s arrival today in Yugoslavia, where he will spend three days in Belgrade and then tour the country before going on to Brioni for next week’s conference with Yugoslav President Marshal Tito and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Emphasizing that Marshal Tito will not be influenced by Nasser’s anti-Israel stand, Yugoslav diplomats here said that Israel “need not be alarmed” and that Marshal Tito will utilize the three-party conference in an attempt to bring about “a greater calm” in the Middle East.
