Nothing short of an act of war will cause the British Navy to interfere with the sailing of two Egyptian destroyers now loading ammunition and other stores at Portsmouth harbor, a Royal Navy spokesman said today. The ships became Egyptian property the moment they were transferred by the British Government, the Navy spokesman said.

A hitch has developed in the destroyers sailing schedule, however, because of an error in loading the wrong size ammunition for their guns, it was learned. The munitions were supplied by British Naval Stores.
