Israel claims political loyalty only from the citizens of Israel, Semah Cecil Hyman, Israel Consul General in New York, told 140 Jewish college men here last night.
Addressing the annual Hillel summer institute, the Israel diplomat said that from Jews outside Israel, the State claimed only interest and support. American Jews, he said, are both Americans and Jews, and to deny either is a violation of self. The better Jew an American Jew is, he said, the better American he will be.
The summer institute is part of the leadership training program of B’nai B’rith.
