Israel is Western civilization’s “outpost in the Middle East,” conducting “an exemplary social experiment which deserves copying by the rest of the world,” a prominent Catholic clergyman, the Rev. Dr. Carlos Cucchetti, declared here today upon his return from a three-week visit to Israel.
Israel should be given sovereignty over all of Jerusalem, part of which is now occupied by Jordan, said Father Cucchetti. The Jewish State, he added, is “defending Western spiritual values with great idealism and with the heroism of the Maccabeans.”
