The Israel Parliament opened here today after a ten-week recess. Premier David Ben Gurion, speaking in Spanish, greeted members of a Uruguayan Parliamentary delegation who were sitting in the visitors’ gallery, declaring that Uruguay was the only South American state which was consistently democratic.

At a press conference earlier, the Uruguayan legislators paid tribute to Israel’s liberal attitude toward minorities–Moslems and Christians. They lauded the Jewish State’s democratic institutions, its dynamic progress and its all out effort in behalf of the immigrants.
