Lowenste in Receives Annual Human Rights Award at J. D. A. Dinner

Leon Lowenstein, New York philanthropist, was presented the annual Human Rights Award of Joint Defense Appeal-American Jewish Committee, at a dinner last night in the Waldorf-Astoria. Robert T. Stevens, former Secretary of the Army, made the presentation, Earlier, Mayor Wagner proclaimed yesterday “Human Relations Day” in tribute to Lowenstein.

The dinner opened the Fall Joint Defense Appeal campaign to raise $5,600,000 for the programs of the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith.
