The Egyptian radio broadcast today a purported statement by Dr. Chaim Nahoum, Chief Rabbi of Egypt, characterizing reports of discrimination against Egyptian Jews as “lies and fabrications.” The broadcast said that the Chief Rabbi was received by President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the president’s office and thanked him for the special facilities he had received enabling him to travel abroad.

The Chief Rabbi’s statement was first broadcast by Radio Cairo and then by the “Voice of the Arabs” radio station in Hebrew and Arabic.
