A gift of $500,000 toward the establishment of the library at the Albert Einstain College of Medicine was announced today by Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University. The gift was presented by the D.S. and R.H. Cottesman Foundation in memory of the late D. Samuel Gottesman, noted New York industrialist and philanthropist.

Construction of the library, which will be erected at a cost of approximately $1,000,000 is expected to begin shortly on the medical school’s 16-acre site. It is scheduled to be completed before the opening of the College’s third academic year in September, 1957. The D. Samuel Gottesman Library with provisions for 200,000 volumes, will be located adjacent to the College’s nine-story Science Building. The three-story library unit will include a reading room to accommodate 150, reading dens, special study-typing rooms for students and a current periodical room.
