Max Braude, director of the World ORT Union, arrived here today from Geneva to take part in discussions here concerning financing of ORT’s program of vocational training. The organization maintains 400 trade schools and workshops for more than 22,000 persons.

Mr. Braude said the ORT would require more than $4,000,000 during 1957 to meet its operating budget. He planned to join officers of the American ORT Federation in negotiating a new financial agreement with Joint Distribution Committee to cover a substantial part of this sum. During the current year. JDC allotted $1,450,000 for ORT’s overseas activities. Mr. Braude referred to emergency conditions abroad as requiring a program of accelerated training in the next year.
