U. N. Officers Investigate Treatment of Gaza Arabs by Israel

In response to suggestions by Mrs. Golda Meir. Israel’s Foreign Minister, that the United Nations make its own investigation about the manner in which Israel is treating Arabs in the Gaza strip. Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold today assigned two officers of the United Nations Emergency Force to make such an inspection.

Mrs. Meir had denied allegations that Israel was mistreating the Arabs, in the Gaza strip and had assured Mr. Hammarskjold that his representatives would be given all facilities by the Israeli authorities in their investigations. The two officers named by Mr. Hammarskjold are Lt. Col. Knut Nelson and Capt. Gerhard C. Svedlund.
