President Eisenhower reaffirmed the “bonds of sympathetic interest” between the United States and Israel and voiced “confidence that the present difficulties may be resolved in a peaceful manner.”
The President’s sentiments were expressed in a message to Premier David Ben Gurion delivered by New York State Senator-elect Jacob K. Javits when he was received by the Premier here today. Mr. Eisenhower said that he knew that Mr. Javits planned to “seek an audience” with Mr. Ben Gurion and used that opportunity to send his message to the Israeli statesman.
