2, 000 Hungarian Jews Will Enter United States, United Hias Head Says

At least 2, 000 Jews will be included in the 2, 500 Hungarian refugees being admitted into this country under the emergency procedure it was estimated this week-end by Murray L. Gurfein president of United Hias Service.

The organization has trebled its staff in Austria during the past few weeks to handle the Hungarian Jewish refugees, and has already registered almost 6,000 persons for various immigration countries reopened its offices in Salzburg and Linz. Mr. Gurfein announced that about 700 Jews have already been helped by United Hias to leave Austria. More than 400 went to the U.S. Of these 150 are currently being fed and sheltered by United Hias in New York.
