An appeal to President Eisenhower for emergency action to rescue the Jews of Egypt was voiced here by the Illinois Conference of Jewish Organizations.

After detailing the persecutions already suffered by Jews in Egypt and highlighting the direction in which a “reign of terror and oppression” is leading the conference which represents 36 groups, asked the President to instruct the United States delegation at the United Nations to call upon the UN to dispatch UN observers to Egypt to investigate the plight of the Jews; have the observers report their findings and recommendations to the General Assembly, and take whatever action is deemed necessary to bring the anti-Jewish campaign to a halt.
