Increased affiliation with a synagogue “is not an indication of a significant growth of religious interest, vitality and dedication,” District Attorney Edward S. Silver of Brooklyn warned today. Mr. Silver, past president of the National Council of Young Israel, addressed 1, 500 dinner guests celebrating Young Israel’s 45th anniversary here.

“A new segment of American youth in Young Israel is endeavoring to forge a harmonious link and blending of the basic principles of Orthodoxy and the demands of a secular culture,” the guests were told by another of the speakers, Moses H. Hoenig, president of the National Council of Young Israel.
