Sen. Jacob K. Javits today urged the Administration to initiate a major drive in the Middle East now for “resettlement of Arab refugees in Arab lands.”

Sen. Javits told the Senate: “There is an indicated breakdown of international support for the maintenance of the Palestine Arab refugees through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and notice of a new declaration of economic warfare on Israel by the Arab League.”

The Senator recommended that the United States summon its ambassadors and plan a diplomatic campaign to win acceptance of the Johnston plan of regional water cooperation as a first step.
