Dr. Abraham Shmuel Schwartz, oldest Hebrew post in the United States, died at his home here today. Born 81 years ago in a small town near Vilna, Russia, he came to this country in his early youth and was one of the founders 60 years ago of the organization known as “Mefitze Sefat Ever” (“Promoters of the Hebrew Language”). Most of his poems were published in Hadoar, only Hebrew-language weekly in this country.
