More than 25, 000 persons filled Ebbets Field tonight to hear the ninth annual America-Israel Cultural Foundation “Music Under the Stars” concert and to contribute an estimated $100,000 for the organization’s program in Israel.

Cultural activities are as vital as economic development in the new and isolated settlements in Israel, Dr. Arthur J. Lelyveld, executive vice-president of the AICF, told the audience, adding that Israel “has more creative artists and more lovers of the arts per acre than any comparable area any place in the world.”

In reporting on new building projects, Dr. Lelyveld said that on October 2 the first building in a $3,500,000 four-unit Tel Aviv Cultural Center will be dedicated. The first building is the Frederic R. Mann Auditorium, named for the AICF board chairman, a Philadelphian. The building will be the permanent home of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
