In letters to next of kin of the 58 victims of the El Al disaster of July 19, 1955, the Attorney General of Israel today revealed that Bulgaria has so far made no move to pay compensation for the deaths and damage resulting from Bulgarian fighters shooting the Israel’s passenger plane out of the skies. It was reported here that Bulgaria seems less willing today to pay than she was two years ago.
The Attorney General noted that the two-year period for presenting claims in connection with air accidents was nearing an end and that relatives should take legal steps to protect their rights. “There is no saying when the Bulgarian Government will fulfill its promise (to pay),” the letters said. He informed the next of kin that E1 A1 was willing to extend the time limit for them to submit claims.”
