Eisenhower Reports to Congress on Grants to Middle East Countries

President Eisenhower reported to Congress today that grants totalling $52, 900, 000 in economic aid and pledges of $51, 000, 000 in military aid have been made by Special Ambassador James P. Richards as administrator of the Middle East “Eisenhower Doctrine” to checkmate Communism.

In addition, the International Cooperation Administration provided $55,100,000 in mutual security assistance and the United States spent $7, 000, 000 on the United Nations Emergency Forces in the Suez area, the President reported. He gave no details on any of the allocations.
