For the first time in its 32-year history, the Scandinavian Jewish Federation has selected a Jew who does not come from one of the four countries in the federation to receive its highest honor, Knight of the Order of Kind David.

The award was made here at a dinner in the Copenhagen Guildhall last night to Charles H. Jordan, director general of the American Joint Distribution Committee, in recognition of his work in helping reconstruct Jewish life shattered by war and persecution in Denmark and Norway. The award was also conferred upon Dr. Marcus Melchior, Chief Rabbi of Denmark.
