Prof. Yigal Yadin’s just published “The Message of the Scrolls” has received an extremely warm critical reception. Today’s Daily Telegraph, for example, says of this short history of the Dead Sea Scrolls by Israel’s leading archaeologist: “In the brief space of 189 pages it combines comprehensiveness with balance. It is almost the only one that an ordinary lay reader can confidently rely on.”

(Yosef Yadin, brother of the archaeologist-author, arrived in the United States last week to portray their father, the late. Prof. Eliezer Sukenik, in a drama adapted from “The Message of the Scrolls” which will appear on the nationally televised Armstrong Circle Theatre on the CBS network October 2.)
