Government Representatives Attend Opening of Synagogue in Brazil

A new synagogue with a seating capacity of 1,200 was opened here by the Israelite Paulista Congregation, which has a membership of 2,200 families. The building, designed by Brazil’s foremost Jewish architect, H. Mindlin, is a blend of modern and traditional styles. Representatives of the Jewish community, the local and state governments and Israel Minister to Brazil Arie Aroch attended the opening ceremonies.
