The announcement of the kidnapping of Eliahu Chazan, an Israeli attache in Moscow, by Soviet secret service agents, has provoked considerable interest in diplomatic circles here and in the British press.

Diplomatic sources expressed the belief that the Russians had hoped to obtain from the Israeli diplomat the names of Russian Jews who had organized a large demonstration of local Jews to welcome the Israel delegation to the recent Moscow Youth Festival.
