Austrian Delegate to U. N. Pledges Support for Claims of Nazi Victims

A pledge that the Austrian labor movement would support “every reasonable claim” made by those who had material losses under the Nazis was made here by Franz Olah, executive vice president of the Austrian Labor Federation, Austrian delegate to the United Nations and Parliamentary whip of the Austrian Socialist Party. The pledge was made to Jewish labor leaders at a private luncheon in Mr. Olah’s honor at the headquarters of the Jewish Labor Committee

Introduced by Adolph Held, national chairman of the JLC, Mr. Olah pointed out that he had met with Mr. Held earlier on the question of securing financial assistance for those who had suffered material loss while the Nazis occupied Austria. “While it is impossible to resurrect those who had already died, it is morally obligatory for us to honor those with reasonable claims against the Austrian State, ” he said.
