Prof. Jekuthiel Ginsburg, World-famous Mathematician, Dies in N. Y.

Dr. Jekuthiel Ginsburg, professor of mathematics at Yeshiva University and director of its Institute of Mathematics, succumbed to a heart attack today at the age of 68.

At the time of his death, Dr. Ginsburg was making arrangements for the celebration of the silver anniversary of the University’s noted mathematical journal, “Scripta Mathematica,” of which he was founder and editor. An outstanding teacher and scholar, he was born in 1889 in Lipniki, Poland, and came to the United States in 1912. He was a fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences, International Academy of History of Science, American Mathematical Association, French Mathematics Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Mathematics Society, and other groups.
