Eric Johnston, Presidential envoy to the Middle East. today told a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee that his irrigation plan for regional water cooperation was still very much alive. He made this statement when asked by Sen. Alexander Wiley, Wisconsin Republican, if the Johnston Plan was now dead.

The National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States published today a report asserting that there can be no solution of the Middle East crisis without a “fair” settlement of the Arab refugee question. The general board of the Council approved recommendations in the report calling for wider interpretation of the human problems underlying the refugee situation, increased relief efforts for Arab refugees by the churches and the development of personal ties between peoples of the Middle East and of the United States.
