Israeli sources here today disputed a report that the United States and Britain contemplate bringing pressures against Israel for territorial adjustment “and acceptance of 100,000 Arab refugees. The report had described the alleged Anglo-American plan as an aftermath of the talks held in Washington between President Eisenhower and British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan.
What Israel has been told by those who participated in the Anglo-American conference “conflicted directly” with the Arab repatriation and “territorial adjustment” report, an Israel source said.
According to the source, Israel has received no proposals on either subject, and its attitude on those subjects is known. The source declared that Israel’s “attitude to an agency report on Mr. Macmillan’s alleged ‘proposals’ is skeptical, especially as such proposals would lead nowhere if they were made, and it is doubtful if they were ever made.
