Jewish life in Hungary–religious, cultural and social–is extremely intense, Dr. G. M. Riegner, World Jewish Congress aide, reported to a meeting of the European executive of the WJC here.

Present at the session were delegates from affiliated groups in Austria, Belgium, Britain, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands. Switzerland, Algeria. Tunisia. Morocco. A special welcome was given community president A Sos and Chief Rabbi J. Benschofsky of Hungary.

A.L. Easterman, political director of the WJC, reported on relations with Jewish communities in other Eastern European countries. He also reviewed the situation of Jewish communities in North Africa. Dr I. Steinberg, director of the Congress cultural department, discussed the Congress cooperation with the United Nations Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization and urged that each WJC national affiliate work with UNESCO too.
