Joint Anti-submarine Exercises Held by Israel and France

Israel-French combined sea exercises took place during October in which stress was placed on anti-Submarine warfare, It was disclosed here today.

An Israel destroyer flotilla took part with French naval units in submarine defection, submarine hunting missions and sea patrol, as well as in modern methods of protecting convoys from undersea attack, it was revealed. The Jerusalem Post reported that Israel was the first nation permitted to participate in French naval operational tactics exercises.

According to the report, Israel naval units won the esteem of French officers, who emphasized that Israel performances compared favorably with that of French navy standards. Israel officers, returning from the maneuvers, expressed confidence they could deal with Egyptian submarines successfully.
