Syrian troop concentrations were seen today in the area behind the demilitarized zone along Israel’s northeastern frontier. This is the area, north of Dan, in which Israeli policemen are clearing mines and in which a Syrian attack last week killed two and wounded six Israelis.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman denied once again that Israel was massing troops in the demilitarized area, as had been charged yesterday by Syria. He noted that if the troops Syria charged were actually in the 6,000 square yard zone, they would be packed as tight as sardines.
